Yellow Bird Pictures is filming

Zur Sache Marie (WT) for SAT.1

A comedy starring Valerie Niehaus and Tom Beck

Munich, 23rd February 2011. “Zur Sache Marie” (WT) is the German version of the French series “Hard”, which the production company Yellow Bird Pictures has now started filming as a TV movie in Munich and the surrounding area. Yellow Bird secured the German format rights for the French cult series back in 2008.

When her husband drops down dead, innocent housewife Marie (played by Valerie Niehaus) suddenly discovers she has to look after herself and their two teenage children. Fortunately, her husband was a successful businessman – or at least, that’s what she thinks! He always told her he had a reputable Internet company… but it now emerges that his firm, “MarieX”, is actually engaged in the production of pornographic films. Even worse: business isn’t going well. So Marie has to overcome her prejudices and take charge of the company. The conservative housewife undergoes a crash course in the sex business, and Marie soon becomes familiar with the bizarre though sometimes quite “normal” matter of running a porn business from day to day. However, the single mother and “film producer” soon develops her very own views about exactly what is erotic, and what isn’t…

Producer Boris Ausserer and scriptwriter Ilja Haller have developed the German TV movie on the basis of the successful French format from La Parisienne D’Images. The production is directed by Andi Niessner (“Dörte’s Dancing”) with camera work by Bernd Neubauer. The major roles feature Valerie Niehaus (“Sind denn alle Männer Schweine?”), Tom Beck (“Alarm für Cobra 11”), Maria Ehrich (“Danni Lowinski”, “Doctor´s Diary”), Hildegard Schmahl (“In aller Stille”), Helmfried von Lüttichau (“Die Akte Golgatha”, “Der letzte Bulle”), Saskia Fischer (“Großstadtrevier”), Lilly Forgách (“Um Himmels Willen”) and Julia Thurnau (“Mord in bester Gesellschaft”).

The SAT.1 program executive on this project is Jochen Ketschau.

Producer Boris Ausserer: “In fact ‘Hard’ was one of the first concepts we secured in 2008 when Yellow Bird was first founded. In France the original has become a cult on Canal+, with filming now taking place for the second series. I’m delighted that SAT.1 has commissioned this very amusing comedy.”

Yellow Bird Pictures GmbH is a joint venture between the Swedish Yellow Bird AB, Stockholm, and the managing partner Oliver Schündler. It is a member of Zodiak Entertainment, Paris.
