The Tears of the Madonna - TV Movie

The investigative team led by Chief Inspector Benedikt Beissl (Andreas Giebel) investigates for the first time in a feature-length film, under the direction of Grimme Award winner Sabine Derflinger. Available in the media library from December 26, 2025, and airing on Das Erste on January 7, 2026, at 8:15 p.m. An antiques dealer is found shot dead. A valuable painting is missing from his shop: “The Tears of the Madonna.”

For Inspector Jerry Paulsen (Peter Marton), it is no coincidence that the notorious criminal Tarek Kristo (Luka Dimic) shows up in Berchtesgaden at precisely this time. While Paulsen and his colleague Sophia Strasser (Katharina Leonore Goebel), disguised as hotel guests, conduct their investigation, Beissl (Andreas Giebel) finds himself in mortal danger. Anton Hauser (Paul Wellenhof) holds him captive in a mountain hut. At the same time, a drama of guilt and atonement unfolds at the remote farm of Anton’s grandmother, Maria Hauser (Marianne Sägebrecht), drawing the detectives into its vortex as well.
