Since 2008 we have been producing films and series for cinema and television marked by great passion, a love of stories and respect for our creative partners. The focus is on the idea, the story or the "format", which is why – alongside the directors – the writers always play a prominent role for us. Lucky Bird is a partner and sometimes even home to such successful authors as Henning Mankell (The Man from Beijing), Cornelia Funke (Ghosthunters), Fred und Léonie Breinersdorfer (13 Minutes) and Holger Karsten Schmidt (The Mission).
As a German production company, we think internationally in terms of development, realization and exploitation. Profound experience with international co-productions and curiosity about content and partners beyond our borders are the trademarks of Lucky Bird. Our TV and cinema productions are successfully distributed worldwide and appear in cinemas and/or TV and home entertainment in countries including the UK, Canada and the USA.
Lucky Bird Pictures emerged from the German-Scandinavian joint venture between the managing director Oliver Schündler and the Swedish Yellow Bird Group. Since 2012 after a MBO, Schündler has been the sole shareholder.
Since 2018 Lucky Bird has also featured in early evening TV viewing with the successful series Mountain Murders for First German Television.
In 2015 Boris Ausserer and Oliver Schündler were awarded the Producers’ Prize for Best Film at the Bavarian Film Awards (13 Minutes).
